People have been asking me how I came up with the name Grit & Wit and I thought I might give a little explanation. I attribute the two elements of grit and wit to be absolutely essential to where I have been and where I am going. Talent and creativity are important in my journey, but not the most important. I don’t consider myself to be exceptional or better or smarter than anyone else. What I do know I have, however, is a lot of grit and a good dose of wit. I believe in hard work, being nice to people, always learning and checking your ego at the door. I believe in those things because I have made mistakes regarding each and every one of them. I have learned to own those mistakes. I will make more and learn from them, too. My work ethic borderlines on unhealthy, as does my perfectionism – both common attributes of people who create for a living. I am hard on myself. I compare myself to other designers, writers, people in general. But I am so, so lucky to do what I love for a living. I frequently feel like I must have done something right along the way. I love creating and I love communication. I love small businesses and creative entrepreneurs and their bravery – it’s what drives me, too! I know my genuine love for these things will translate into my work for Grit & Wit. I can’t wait to spread the love, people!
