I wanted to get this post out before I take off to St. John, USVI for a little winter vacay. I know this makes me sounds all free-spirited and fancy, but I can assure you – this trip isn’t a normal occurrence. We haven’t been anywhere (alone) other than a long weekend or overnight stay in four years. And yes, my son is four. Coincidence? I think not.
Anyway, I am finishing this week with a bang and sharing one of my favorite projects and clients to date. I had the pleasure of working with Nashville interior designer, Kendall Simmons, to create an beautifully polished and personal brand for her new business – the aptly names Kendall Simmons Interiors.
From the first conversation, I knew Kendall and I were a match made in design heaven. She is not only extremely talented, she has a great sense of humor and creativity all her own. It’s one of the best feelings when you have an instant click with a potential client and I was excited to help her take her business to the next level.
We started from scratch, but built on the idea of a clean, yet expressive look. Kendall is very well traveled and has a sophisticated sense of style; so, I wanted to make sure we reflected that in a no-frills sort of way. Her modern inclinations are mixed with some traditional touches and I just loved working with that contrast.
One of my favorite parts of this project was the business cards. Knowing Kendall liked a just a little bit of fun to her brand voice, I came up with these sayings for her business card suite that make them more memorable than the typical card. Through the brand discovery process, a tagline was also developed to express Kendall’s brand positioning and appeal to her perfect client. “Modern Interiors, Timeless Taste” was a perfect fit. Kendall had her business cards and notecards letterpressed and gold foil stamped (swoon!) by Rise & Shine Letterpress in Lousiana. We kept it all in the South for this one!
The little details and subtle touches on the site were the icing on the cake. For example, a list of her “favorites” on the About page. So fun! I really couldn’t be happier with the result, and I think Kendall would say the same. Check out her site here!
And with that, I am turning on my computer, putting the out-of-office on and starting this little 5 day adventure. I’m desperately in need of a refresh and can’t wait to get back to my clients newly inspired and ready to get to work. I truly believe that when you are in the creative industry, you need to get unplugged and check out the colors outside of the screen every once in a while. I can’t wait. See you in a few days!
